Abstract

Since globalization era and the end of Cold War, environment is the third crucial issues after international security and global economy. According to Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) 2001, year of 1998 and 21st century are the hottest period in a thousand last years. Therefore, the United Nations has initiatively made Conference of Parties I (COP I) in Berlin, 1994 to reduce and tackle the climate change issues. UNFCCC was the pioneer of agreement on preserving global climate change. This paper aims to nexus correlation and influence of Indonesia’s foreign policy on climate change towards green diplomacy in forming the post-Kyoto Protocol 2012. It certainly affects to liberalism and environmentalism, which explore more contributive perspective for IR studies. As the method, there is a single case called COP which analyzed descriptively in three periods (from 2007-2009). Indonesia has done some good deed in climate change negotiation. One of the important role is Indonesia has become a host for COP 13 in Bali, 2007. That time also reframed the structure of Kyoto Protocol 2012 by creating Road Map and Ad Hoc Working Group. The future of Kyoto Protocol has been analyzed briefly by exploring two terms of supporting and constraining factors in formulating Indonesia’s foreign policy, from the level of bureaucratic politics. Due to long active and more cooperative foreign policy, there are some recommendations for Indonesia bureaucrats.
