Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan representasi identitas gay dalam film “Cinta yang Dirahasiakan”. Fenomena representasi homosekualitas dalam media masih menjadi topik hangat yang diperbincangkan. Kaum homoseksual masih dianggap sebagai kelompok menyimpang atau abnormal yang keberadaannya memunculkan resistensi di masyarakat yang menjunjung tinggi azas heteronormativitas. Untuk mendeskripsikan representasi identitas gay dalam film “Cinta yang Dirahasiakan”, peneliti menggunakan metode semotik John Fiske yang terbagi dalam tiga level analisis yaitu level realitas, representasi dan ideologi. Sedangkan pendekatan yang digunakan adalah dengan kualitatif deskriptif. Obyek penelitian ini adalah identitas gay dengan sasaran penelitian film “Cinta yang Dirahasiakan”. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah adegan-adegan dalam film yang merepresentasikan identitas gay dengan unit analisisnya berupa simbol, tanda dan lambing baik verbal (narasi dan latar suara) maupun nonverbal (visual). Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa identitas gay digambarkan sebagai seorang pria yang telah menerima identitasnya sebagai seorang homoseksual. Keinginan untuk “coming out” terhadap keluarga terdekat menjadi sebuah perjuangan tersendiri karena selalu terbentur oleh ideologi heteronormativitas yang ada di masyarakat.Identitas mereka digambarkan sebagai sosok laki-laki gay yang memiliki sifat maskulin maupun feminin dalam dirinya. Translation: This study aimed to describe the representation of gay identity in the movie called "Cinta yang Dirahasiakan". The representation of homosexuality in mass media known as popular topic that still be widely discussed until today. Homosexuals are remain as deviant or abnormal group which their existence lead to resistance by the society that upholds the heteronormativity. The focus of this research is gay identity in the "Cinta yang Dirahasiakan" movie as its objective research. The representation of gay identity in this movie is describe using a semiotics method by John Fiske, which divide into three levels of analysis; the level of reality, representation and ideology. While the approach that used is qualitative descriptive. This research collecting data by selecting and capture various scenes from this movie that represents gay identity with the unit of analysis in the form of symbols, signs and symbols of both verbal (narration and backsound) and nonverbal (visual). The results of this research show that gay identity describe as a men who has accepted his homosexual identity.Their desire for "coming out" to the closest family become a struggle of its own because it's always crashed with heteronormativity ideology in their society.Their identity portrayed as a gay guy who has masculine and feminine side in his self.
