Abstract

Dengan menciptakan lingkungan kerja yang nyaman, segar, dan memenuhi standar kebutuhan, maka hal tersebut dapat memberikan kontribusi terhadap performa mereka dalam melakukan pekerjaannya dengan lebih baik lagi. Saat ini banyak perpustakaan yang melakukan redesain gedung perpustakaan baik secara keseluruhan atau hanya penataan tata ruangnya saja. Tujuannya agar dapat memberikan penampilan, suasana, fungsi, yang lebih baik dan lebih bermanfaat dengan cara seperti merubah, mengurangi, atau menambah unsur tertentu pada gedung tersebut. Hal itu dilakukan selain untuk memberikan kenyamanan pada pengguna, juga untuk meningkatkan performa kerja dari pustakawannya. Oleh karena itu dibuatlah penelitian ini yang bertujuan untuk mengetahui persepsi pustakawan terhadap redesain tata ruang layanan di Badan Perpustakaan dan Kearsipan Provinsi Jawa Timur, dengan menggunakan 5 dimensi interior dari Marry Gilliatt dimana diataranya meliputi aspek pencahayaan, ruang penyimpanan, penggunaan warna, tekstur dan pola, serta skala dan keseimbangan ruang. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode penelitian deskriptif dengan pendekatan kuantitatif. Pengambilan sampel menggunakan sampel jenuh dengan jumlah total 28 responden yang merupakan pustakawan yang bekerja di perpustakaan Badan Perpustakaan dan Kearsipan Provinsi Jawa Timur. Hasilnya, menunjukkan jika persepsi pustakawan terhadap redesain di perpustakaan BAPERSIP Provinsi Jawa Timur ini merupakan tindakan yang tepat dan sudah lebih baik daripada sebelumnya, dimana perpustakaan saat ini memberikan tampilan yang lebih menyegarkan mata dan pikiran mereka saat melakukan aktivitas kerja, akan tetapi pustakawan juga menilai jika masih terdapat ruangan didalam perpustakaan yang kurang memperhatikan aspek interiornya, sehingga menimbulkan berbagai persepsi dari pustakawan. Translation: By creating a work environment that is comfortable, fresh, and meet the needs, it could give some contribution towards their performance in doing their job better. Nowadays, there are many libraries do either redesign of its library building as a whole or its layout only. The purpose is to provide a better and more beneficial appearance, atmosphere, and function by changing, reducing, or adding certain elements in the building. That was done not only to provide comfort for the users, but also to improve the job performance of the librarians. Therefore, this study was conducted in order to know the perception of the librarians towards the redesign of the layout of service of The Library and Archives of East Java Province (Badan Perpustakaan dan Kearsipan Provinsi Jawa Timur—BAPERSIP Provinsi Jawa Timur), by using the five interior dimensions from Marry Gilliatt, which include lighting aspect, storage space, the use of color, texture and pattern, and the balance of space. The method used in this study was descriptive research with quantitive approach. Data were collected using saturated sample with 28 respondents who are librarians in BAPERSIP Jawa Timur as the total number of the subject. The result showed that the perception of librarians towards redesigning in BAPERSIP Jawa Timur is an appropriate action, where the library now provides a refreshing appearance for the librarians’ eyes and mind while performing work activities, but the librarians found that there is still a room in the library that has less attention to its interior aspect, and that gives various perceptions of the librarians.
