Abstract

Breast Milk is the best food for the babies because it was suitable with the baby’s digestive.However, in fact, there are mothers who give weaning food before the baby is 6 months old. It’s because of low education levels and Lack of knowledge of mothers. This research was to determine the relationship between level of education and knowledge about exclusive breastfeeding mothers by giving weaning food to infants 0-6 months. This research is analytic with cross sectional approach. Sampling technique using simple random sampling. the subject is breastfeeding mothers in the working area of puskemas Cukir with 106 sample. Collecting data using questionnaires. The data were analyzed using Chi square (χ2) with 95% significancy level. Correlation test using the Coefficient Contingency (C). The result showed that 45,3% level of education is secondary education and 47,2% knowledgeable enough. 76,4% breastfeeding mothers provide weaning food to infants 0-6 months. Results of Chi square test, level of education p value= 0,000, p < 0,05, there is a relationship between level of education with provision weaning food. The knowledge p = 0,146, p>0,005, there was no relationship between maternal knowledge of exclusive breastfeeding by giving weaning food. There is a relationship between level of education with the provision of weaning food and there is no relationship between maternal knowledge about exclusive breastfeeding by givingweaning food.
