Abstract

Teenage is a period of transition that often face the risk of reproductive health especially sex and sexuality. The problem of this research is the high percentage of teenage having sex and there are significant differences between boys and girls, teenage boys doing it twice bigger than girls. Behavioral differences shown teenage boys and girls to sexual behavior was influenced by their perceptions and attitudes toward sex and sexuality. The purpose of this research is learning the differences in perception, attitude, and behavior sex and sexuality between teenage boys and girls in SMAN 1 and 2 Bima. This research used qualilative method to describe perception, attitude, and behaviour boys and girls in sex and sexuality. Total sample in this research were consisting of 38 male and female students as a informant by using snowball sampling. The data obtained were collected by using indepth interview and FGD(focus group discussion). Technique of analysing data used was an interactive model of analysis encompassing three components : data reduction, data display, and conclusions drawing as well as verification. The research found: (1) perceptions of teenage boys and girls about sex and sexuality were seen as something negative which was related to sexual intercourse. Perceptions of teenage boys on sexual behavior of teens interaction were seen as being no longer taboo, while teenage girls see it as something that was very alarming, which was apart from norms and customs. (2) Teenage boys are more interested in looking for information about sex and sexuality than teenage girls who lived in a place where the culture, norms, and prohibitions existing in community organized and gave more restrictions on teenage girls than boys. Parents also controlled and monitored teenage girls more intensively than they did on boys. (3) Teenage boys showed more permissive attitudes than girls toward having sex before marriage. (4) Sexual behavior of teenage boys was higher than girls. The differences in perceptions of sex and sexuality between teenage boys and girls influenced by information that they can, culture and norms in society, the situation, and the experience of dating. Those also have the impact to the differences attitudes and behaviors between teenage boys and girls toward sex and sexuality. Therefor, required disclosure of information about sex and sexuality for teenage.
