Abstract

Objective: Assets by minimum service standards in health in East Java province in 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007 show achievements exclusively breastfed babies in Jember, each for 38.86%, 42.94%, 42.80%, and 49.66% with a target attainment of 65% in 2007. It is not balanced with the achievements of young children to weight gain in the same year that is equal to 71.56%, 72.76%, 72.58%, 61.07%. Many factors influence infant weight gain, one of which is nutrients obtained from breastfeed and infant formula. Method: The aims of the study to tell the difference growing weight infants exclusively breastfed and infant formula, by retrospective analytical study with cross-sectional design. The sample size are 77 respondents who received breastfeeding and 70 respondents who received infant formula taken samplimg accidental. Secondary data obtained from the questionnaire and see the baby then performed tabulation KMS. Result: Chi Square test statistic obtained results there is no difference in weight gain of infants aged 0-6 months are exclusively breastfed and infant formula with a value of p = 0.446 with α = 0.05. Conclusion: For the study (PHC Patrang Jember) expected limitations of the data on the KMS and book reports can be input for health center staff to improve performance on the field so it can be used in subsequent studies.
