Abstract

The cause of ovarian cancer is not known with certainty. Several factors are thought to be associated with the incidence of ovarian cancer include risk factors, hormonal factors, genetic and familial factors, and environmental factors. The aims this research to determine risk factors for ovarian cancer and to analyze factors that influence ovarian cancer risk. The sample of respondents of this study 62 ovarian cancer (cases) were taken in total sampling of respondents in the Oncology Unit RSUD Dr. Soetomo and 62 is not cancer (controls) was taken as simple random sampling in the Gynecology Unit RSUD Dr. Soetomo. Chi Square statistical test results obtained liaison between age with ovarian cancer (p value = 0.022 with α = 0.05, OR = 4.229 value with CI = 1.306 to 13.697); no liaison between age of menarche with ovarian cancer (p-value = 0.528 with α = 0.05); no liaison between menopausal women with ovarian cancer (p value = 0.013 with α = 0.05, OR = 4.628 value with CI = 1.439 to 14.882); no liaison between parity with ovarian cancer (value p = 1.000 with α = 0.05).Analyze liaison between variables using chi square tests. The test results of analysis show two risk factors associated with p < 0.05 which are the age (p = 0.022, OR = 4.229; 95% CI: 1.306 to 13.697) and menopausal (p = 0.013, OR = 4.628; 95% CI: 1.439 to 14.882). Variables that did not relate that the age of menarche (0.528), parity (1.000). Factors associated with the incidence of ovarian cancer in Oncology Unit of RSUD Dr. Soetomo are age and menopausal.
