Abstract

The current contraceptive prevalence rate (CPR) in Indonesia has been increased from 60,3 %-61,4%, yet the number of unmet need was also high enough. This condition indicate that a high number of contraceptive use willingness and demand could not be fulfilled yet due to unavailability, inaccessibility or afraid to use. In fact, chance on contraceptive use has been expanded with “safari KB” and health guarantees. The lifestyle theory showed what, why and what they meant to do which was affected by willingness, ability, and opportunity. This was a descriptive qualitative study of 47 fertile-aged couples. Depth interview and Focus Group Discussion (FGD) was used to collect the data among respondents about contraceptive status (use and no-use). This study found that (1) lifestyle of contraceptive use among fertile aged couple had apparently different due to willingness, ability, and chance, (2) wife showed more willingness in contraceptive use than their partner. Willingness of husband on contraceptive mostly because their wife are not able to see the side effect on contraceptive use, (3) a high number of unmet need doesn’t mean that no-use respondents aren’t using contraception, but they prefer to use traditional contraceptive method than a modern one.
