Abstract

Breech presentation is one relative indication of the sectio caesaria action. It’s 3-4% incidence of breech presentation of the number of normal births. A third of breech presentation should be born by sectio caesaria. Problem of this study is increasing of breech presentation instance as much 1,3%, increasing of sectio caesaria's action as much 1,07% and increases of breech presentations that did by sectio caesaria's action as much 1,08 % among 2009 - 2010 at RSUD Wates in Kulon Progo. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between the breech presentation with sectio caesaria at RSUD Wates in Kulon Progo. The method used in this study is cross sectional analytic approach to the entire population of women with breech presentation at maternity hospitals at VK RSUD Wates KulonProgo's during the month of January to December 2011. The samples used as many as 100 patients. Independent variable is breech presentation and the dependent variable is the act of sectio caesaria. The sampling technique used was simple random sampling. Data was collected using a research instrument of data collection sheet. Data source came from book register in 2011 and medical record the period January to December 2011. Statistical tests used were Chi Square (X2) followed by calculation of the coefficient of contingency. The results of statistical tests obtained p-value = 0.019, because of p<α (0.019 < 0.05), then there search hypothesis acceptable, which means there is a relationship between breech presentation with sectio caesaria action at RSUD Wates in KulonProgo. It’s strength is subjective being seen on contingency coefficient = 0.22, it means there is allowed weak relationship, but definitely with a positive direction. Breech presentation with complications had 3 times greater chance to do sectio caesaria than breech presentation without complications. The conclusion of this study was that there was a weak but definite between breech presentation with sectio caesaria action at RSUD Wates in KulonProgo. To reduce the risk of maternal sectio caesaria in the breech presentation, continuously training is required for assistant helper competent to vaginal delivery of breech presentation.
