Abstract

Incidence of malnutrition in Saptosari health centers increased by 1.14% in 2010. While the provision of MP-ASI early in Puskesmas Saptosari decreased by 4.9% in 2010. However, the incidence of early MP-ASI is high. This study aims to determine the relationship timing of complementary feeding with nutritional status of infants 6-12 months in the working area Saptosari health center of Yogyakarta in 2011. Analytical methods of survey research with cross sectional design. Population of 277 infants 6-12 months and his mother are spread over seven villages in the region of Saptosari health center in November 2011. Sampling with proportional stratified random sampling technique. Large sample of 161 respondents. The independent variable is the timing of research complementary feeding, whereas the dependent variable is the nutritional status of infants. Instrument of research using questionnaires, KMS, baby scales, and the WHO Anthro 2005 software. Data analysis using Fisher's Exact test with α = 0.05. The results illustrate the majority of respondents (74.5%) provided complementary feeding at age <6 months. While almost all respondents (94.4%) had a good nutritional status. The results of statistical tests Fisher's Exact test obtained pvalue (0.681)>α (0.05), means there is no significant relationship between two variables. The conclusion of this study, no significant associations between the timing of complementary feeding with nutritional status. Although nothing to do, it is expected that health center staff to always support and motivate mothers to provide complementary feeding in a timely manner, which began to be given at age 6 months.
