Abstract

The number of incidence and mortality due to cervical cancer is on the second place after breast cancer. This research is aimed to find out the relationship between the knowledge about cervical cancer with primary precaution towards cervical cancer to the midwifery students of 2009 A at FK Unair. This research is analytical research by using cross sectional approach. The sampling technique in this research is totally sampling and they consist of 43 students. The instrument which is used to obtain the data is using questionnaire. The data analysis is done bivariately using Rank-Spearman’s correlation coefficient. The result of this research shows that there are still about 13,95% of respondents who have less knowledge about cervical cancer and there are about 51,16% of respondents who do the safety precaution. This research also shows that there is a moderate relation but it is significant between the knowledge about cervical cancer with cervical cancer primary precaution (p-value=0,006, α=0.05) with the value of Spearman’s correlation coefficient 0,41. In this research, it is found that the higher knowledge about cervical cancer, it can increase the primary precaution of the cervical cancer. By this research, it is expected that there will be an advance research towards the factors which have not been examined in this research.
