Abstract

Cervical cancer in Indonesia is one of the highest mortality causes. Cervical cancer in early stadium is still cureable by using a simple remedy and result in high possibility about 80-95%. But, most of cervical cancer patients have their medical check after it has been in late stadium, so that the successful of cure is very low. Its seems to be caused by low knowledge of the mother about cervical cancer. One of cervical cancer prevention can be done by giving health education to society about the cause and the ethiology of this cancer. This study used Pre Experimental (One Group Pre-Test Post-Test Design). Population are all mother where stay at RT 05 RW 03 Kelurahan Bulak and were involved according inclusion criteria. Samples were taken using Purposive Sampling. Total sample 44 respondents. Independent variable was health education about cervical cancer. Dependent variable of the study was mother behavior which include knowledge, affective and psychomotor. Instrument used were questionnaire and observation to respondent. Then, data were analyzed using Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test and Mc. Nemar Test with significance value p<0.05. Result revealed that there different between the knowledge, affective and psychomotor before and after health education intervention about cervical cancer which showed with level of knowledge was p = 0.000, the affective level was p = 0.000, and the psychomotor level was p = 0.000. The conclusion is apparent that there is the influence of health education about cervical cancer on cervical cancer screening behaviour improvement of mother. Therefore, health education is needed to prevent cervical cancer.
