Abstract
Background. Various oral diseases that are experienced by pregnant woman becoming an important matter in medical concern. All this time health cadres are formed to give a counseling about body health. However, we seldom find any pregnant counseling about oral health. That is why pregnancy dental care program (predentcare) was formed as an important health cadres counsels to improve the ability of pregnant woman in taking care of their oral health. Purpose. The aim of this research is to find out the effectivity of predentcare program by indentifying the skill improvement of cadres and pregnant woman as the success indicator. Method. On the first visit twenty one cadres were devided into two groups, they were control group that consisted of ten cadres using one-way method and predentcare group that consisted of eleven cadres using predentcare method. The second visit was done on the following week to find out the effectivity of predentcare program. There were three data analysis that were used, they are kolmogorov-smirnov test for normality test, wilcoxon signed ranks test and paired t-test were done to compare pretest and posttest result, mann-whitney test is done to compare the result between control and predentcare groups. The result of those test were based on 0.05 significancy. Result. There was significant difference (p<0.05) between predentcare and control groups. Predentcare group was more effective in improving pregnant woman’ skill in taking care of dental and oral health. Conclusion. Predentcare program is effective in improving pregnant woman’s skill in taking care of dental and oral health.
