Abstract

Background: Case of traumatic wound is often found in the dentistry. Traumatic wounds are most frequently caused by accidental bite and tooth brush excessive trauma. Trauma is the most common cause of traumatic wound of the mucouse membrane. Herbal treatment of mangosteen rind extract can be an alternative in acute traumatic wounds healing. In mangosteen rind extract there is a compound xantone which appears as an anti inflammatory in acute traumatic wounds. Its anti-inflammation fuction may accelerate the proliferation of fibroblasts in acute traumatic wound healing, so that the process time could be minimized. Purpose: In accelerate the fibroblast proliferation in acute traumatic wound healing on wistar rat oral mucouse. Methods: A whole research sample divided into four groups. Group 1 was control, group of 2 was given 25% extract concentration, group of 3 was given 50% extract concentration and group of 4 was given 100% extract concentration of mangosteen rind. Results: Group with 100% extract concentration of mangosteen rind having shows the most significant acceleration of fibroblast proliferation in wound healing process of acute traumatic wound on wistar rat oral mucouse. Conclusion: The mangosteen rind extract with concentration of 25%, 50% and 100% could accelerate the fibroblast proliferation in wound healing process of acute traumatic on wistar rat oral mucouse.
