Abstract

Background: Increasing compressive strength is needed for the dental plaster.It can be used for basic of die when the model was pressing to make acrylic base. With increasing compressive strength it can make die stable in their position. Because dental plaster is very easy to found and cheap, dental plaster have accurate dimension and stable enough. Lignosulfonate, derived from grasses and softwood lignins are able to increase workability. The addition of Calcium Lignosulfonate is expected to increase the compressive strength as workability retention. Purpose. The aim of this study is to compare the effect of Calcim Lignosulfonate addition towards the compressive strength of type-II gypsum. Material and Method. There were six groups in this research: 1) control group, 2) Addition 1gr calcium lignosulfonate group, 3) Addition 2gr calcium lignosulfonate group, 4) Addition 3gr calcium lignosulfonate group 5) Addition 4gr calcium lignosulfonate group, and 6) Addition 5gr calcium lignosulfonate group. Each group consisted of seven samples. The basic compositions for each sample were 100 gram of type-II gypsum and 50 ml of water. Every sample was tested using compressive strength tester. The result has been analyzed using Levene test and Mann-Whitney tests with significant difference (p<0.05). Results. The third group (
