Abstract

Background: Tooth can be used for identification because it has strong individuality, high resistance of deformity and protected by a lot of maxillofacial muscle. Tooth size and stature have correlations in its mineralization process. Previous research on different population shown a lot of variance in tooth size and stature correlation. Correlation between tooth size and stature is expected to be used for personal identification. Purpose: Aim of this study is to determine whether there is a correlation between tooth size and stature in Javanese population male and female. Method: This study was conducted on 30 male and 30 female. Tooth size was recorded using dental model. Result: In Javanese population, there is a correlation between some aspect of certain tooth and stature. In the females, the strongest correlation is in mesiodistal aspect of 22. It has r=0,559, which can explain 31% of factor that affecting stature. There is higher correlation strength in females compared to males. The strongest correlation in males is in mesiodistal aspect of 36. It has r=0,42 which can explain 18% of factor that affecting stature. Conclusion: There’s correlation between some aspect of certain tooth size and stature in Javanese Population.
