Abstract

Background: In orthodontics treatment, it is necessary to know the quality of orthodontics treatment for improvement and standard evaluation by measuring overall alignment dental model during pre-orthodontics and its progress. Peer Assessment Rating Index (PAR Index) is an index which is developed by Richmond S., PAR. It can be used to measure the malocclusion severity and the improvement of orthodontic treatment. Purpose: This study is aimed to know the malocclusion severity and the outcome of removable appliance orthodontics treatment in RSGM-P FKG Airlangga University year 2012-2014. Methods: In this study, the sample is collected through total sampling methodology; by 19 dental models taken during pre-orthodontics treatment and its progress. PAR yardstick is also utilized in measuring the occlusion. Finally, the index data is analyzed by nomogram and to test its validity, the data is analyzed using Wilcoxon statistical analysis as well. Result: The result of malocclusion severity are shown from 9 models (47.37%), they are considered as mild malocclusion, 9 models (47.37%) as moderate malocclusion, and 1 model (5.26%) as severe malocclusion. On the whole, there is no result that shows a serious malocclusion severity. Furthermore, the average of PAR Index is 3.36 by the percentage 16.09%. Conclusion: At last, the result of removable appliance orthodontics treatment in RSGM-P FKG Airlangga University shows a low standard of orthodontics treatment.
