Abstract

Background. Dental Carries is a major problem that often happened in dentistry. If this disease remain untreated it can lead to severity such as perforated pulp, ulceration, fistulae, and abscess. This condition can be measured with pufa/PUFA index. Purpose. The aim of this research was to describe the caries severity on autism children at several special need schools in Surabaya according to the risk factors. Method. Samples were taken with a total sampling, then samples were analyzed in a descriptive and presented in tabulation. Result In this research found that the average of respondents DMFT score 2.00, deft score 2.46, PUFA score 0.64, pufa score 1.14, presentage of PUFA/pufa 0.33, PUFA/pufa 1.6 which has become a severe situation and have a relationship with risk factor for teeth arrangement, degree of autism children, oral hygiene and other risk factor. Conclusion. Autism children at special need school in Surabaya had poor oral hygiene status, low DMFT/deft status, and 1.6 PUFA/pufa became a severe situation.
