Abstract

Background. Removable orthodontic appliances are defined as devices that can be used and removed by the patient. Malocclusion adverse impact and have a bad influence on the aesthetics, chewing function, as well as talk. With some of these aspects is an assessment procedure which could be a reference to orthodontic treatment, one of the assessment and evaluation to assess the success of treatment, by using the Peer Assessment Rating Index (PAR Index). S1 Ortodontia Clinic Faculty of Dentistry Airlangga University Surabaya is one of place for the treatment of malocclusion with removable appliances. Purpose. The aim of this study was to determine the level of removable orthodontic treatment progress in the year 2008-2010 by using the PAR Index in S1 Orthodontia Clinic Faculty of Dentistry Airlangga University Surabaya. Method. The study was conducted on the model of student using Par Index, Pre and Post study model is calculated with the use of a Ruler Par Index, which assessed from 11 components, each component has a few scores judged by certain criteria based on the severity of the occlusion and multiplied by a weight which in 5 main components. Result. The study on 111 study models before and after treatment calculation obtained a mean score of 1.6 or 10.18% Index which treatment progress. Conclusion. The result of treatment carried out is still far from the standards expected.
