Abstract
Background. Oral candidiasis infection is superficial infection of the mouth caused by fungi of the genus candida. Of the nine species of candida, above 80 percent of the causes of oral candidiasis is: candida albicans , candida glabrata , and candida tropicalis. Candida tropicalis Is the most virulent of the species NCAC ( non-candida ). This may be because he has ability to secreting moderate enzymes proteinase. The seeds of mahogany have many effiecient for almost all disease, including antifungi. Mahogany seeds contain saponin, flavonoid , terpenoid , oleic acid , palmitic acid , and stearic acid . That can reduce the growth of candida tropicalis. The aim of this study to prove ethanol extract of mahogany seed (Swieetenia Mahogany Jacq.) effect on the growth of C. Tropicalis. The Method of this research is dilution method to identify the Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) and Minimum Fungicidal Concentration (MFC) from the ethanol extract of mahogany seed (Swieetenia Mahogany Jacq.). Conclusion. The study ethanol extract of mahogany seed (Swieetenia Mahogany Jacq.) is found to be effective as antifungi on the growth of C. tropicalis.
