Abstract

Background.The contamination of alginate impression by saliva and blood potentially could cause of the microorganism development. In order to prevent the contamination could be done by disinfectant liquid such as propolis solution. The ingredients of propolis solution has an antimicrobial, antibacterial, antiviral, and antifungal effect. Purpose. The purpose of this study is to find out the most effective immersing time of the alginate impression in propolis solution in decreasing the oral miroorganism growth. Material and method. Twenty four sample been taken from 6 respondens that fullfill the requirement. These alginate impression devided to 4 group: group 1 no immerse (as control), group 2 immerse in propolis solution for 1 minute, group 3 immerse in propolis solution for 3 minutes, and group 4 immerse in propolis solution for 5 minutes. Then count the microorganism colony manually. Kolmogorov-Smirnov Test is used to analyze the data, after that Repeated Measures ANOVA is used to further analyze. Result. There is significant differencies between each group, p=0,00 (p<0,05). Conclusion. As a disinfectant, this propolis solution effective after 1 minute immersion
