Abstract
Background: Oral hygiene behavior is an action to maintain oral hyiene. Oral hygiene behavior such as brushing teeth, using fluoride toothpaste, flossing and regular dental checkup. Student in Dental Faculty of Airlangga University (FKG,
UNAIR) are expected to have better oral hygiene behavior than society.
Purpose: The aim of this study is to find out behavior of dentistry student in FKG, UNAIR based on their gender and level of semester.
Method: The sample in this study were drawn by proportionate stratified random sampling with stratification factors of gender and level of the semester. Samples are analyzed using cross tabulation.
Results: Oral hygiene behavior of dentistry student in FKG, UNAIR same with the theory. However, for the flossing behavior and regularly dental checks up students hasn’t yet to do so. There was no significant difference if the behavior is sorted according to gender and level of the semester in FKG, UNAIR.
Conclusion: Behavior of dentistry student in FKG, UNAIR are identical and better than the behavior found in the educated people.
