Abstract

Background: Sexual dimorphism is based changes in the skeleton that help estimate attributes pertaining to sex determination from skeletal remains. Skeleton is an excellent material in living and non-living population for genetic, anthropological, odontologic and forensic investigations. Accuracy of sex determination using the pelvis at 95% followed by the skull at 90%. Skull can be used for sex determination when the pelvis is broken. Mandible is part of the skull. Mandible is the hardest and the biggest bone in skull. Purpose: This study was to know the difference of the gonial angle between male and female. Method: This study is a descriptive observational research. 15 samples of each male and female mandible for the measurement of gonial angle using double caliper with goniometer. All data were statistically analyzed by t-test. Result: gonial angle size of women is 128.930 and gonial angle size of male is120.870. Conclusion: there is a significant diferrence between male and female gonial angle size
