Abstract

This experiment studied the effect of ginger extract ( Zingiber officinale ) in reducing blood total cholestero l level in hipercholesterolemic, male Rattus novergicus mice with high cholesterol diet. In this experiment, a high cholesterol di et were given to a group of mice for six weeks, before ginger extract wa s given for a month. In this experiment, no significant difference were found to the blood cholesterol leve l within the group, before and after 25μg and 250μg of ginger extract wa s given. As for the control group, there is a significant increase in cholesterol level after mi ce were given aquadest. The result for this experiment was there is an increase in chol esterol level within all group. The present study indicates that ginger ex tract at concentration ginger extract at concentration 25μg and 250μg has no effect of reducing blood total cholesterol level in hipercholesterolemic, male Rattus novergicus mice
