Abstract

Background. Increased prevalence of candida albicans in denture users causing denture stomatitis. The alternative method is by soaking in denture cleaning solution. The number of red betel leaf ingredients that are antiseptics and contains a high phenol is expected to reduce the number of colonies of Candida albicans, which can be an alternative for denture cleanser.Purpose. The aim of this study was to find the effective concentration of red betel leaf infusum in inhibiting the growth of Candida albicans. Method. This research was laboratory experimental study. The infusum was examined in Candida albicans. Experimental method is serial dilution. The result of serial dilution was contained into 5 concentration (30 %, 15 %, 7,5 %, 3,75 %, 1,875 %). Result was analyzed descriptively with Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC). The examination was repeated 3 times. Result.The result shown that any growth of Candida albicans from concentration 30 % to 1,875 %. Conclusion. Red betel leaf infusum (piper crocatum) doesn’t effective to inhibited the growth of Candida albicans.
