Abstract

Background. The heat cured acylic resin is commonly used as denture base in dentistry. Glass Fiber is used to increase transverse strength in acrylic resin. Alpinia Galanga contains aetheric oil that has anti candida albicans effect, and tanin which can cause colour changing in acrylic resin. Purpose. The aim of this study was to know about the colour changing decrease of heat cured acrylic resin with Glass Fiber 3% addition after immers in Alpinia Galanga 7,5% infuse. Method. This research was done in two groups of acrylic resin. Group 1 is acrylic resin with Glass Fiber 3% addition and group 2 is acrylic resin without Glass Fiber 3% addition. Two groups of acrylic resin immersion in Alpinia Galanga 7,5% infuse for 1 day, 7 days, and 15 days. Colour changing of two groups of heat cured acrylic resin measured with spektofotometer optic. Results. There were significant differences of colour changing between acrylic resin with Glass Fiber 3% addition and acrylic resin without Glass Fiber 3% addition. Conclusion. Colour changing in acrylic resin with Glass Fiber 3% addition decrease after immers in Alpinia Galanga 7,5% infuse.
