Abstract

The aim of this study was to investigate the positive effect of Sambiloto (Andrographis paniculata) leaf extract on histopathological intestinum of common carp infected by Aeromonas hydrophila. Twenty five common carps with 3-5 cm length were devided into five (n=5) of treatment groups, including P0-, P0+, P1, P2, and P3 respectively for control, the group that infected with 106CFU/ml of Aeromonas hydrophila in 5 L water, the groups that infected Aeromonas hydrophila with the same dose and treated with 100 ppm, 200 ppm, and 300 ppm extract of Sambiloto leaf. After a week of adaptation, P0+, P1, P2, and P3 groups were infected for three days and than treated with Sambiloto leaf with the same period, except of group P0+. All fishes were sacrified for data collection. The data of histopathological changes of intestinum were analyzed with Kruskall wallis test, meanwhile the data of inflammation cells number were analyzed with Anova test. This research showed there were signifficanly different (p<0.05) between groups either for histopathological changes of intestinum and the number of inflammation cells. It was proved that P3 was most effective dose, that showed the most mild histological changes and the fewest of inflammation cells infiltration.
