Abstract

The purpose of this research was to prove the effect of turmeric (Curcuma domestica) and papaya leaves (Carica papaya L.) on yolk color and yolk index of quail eggs (Coturnix-coturnix japonica). This research used 24 quails layer that grouped into four treatments consist of P0 (Standard feed), P1 (Feed + turmeric 0.6%), P2 (Feed + papaya leaves 0.25%), P3 (Feed + turmeric 0.6% and papaya leaves 0.25%). The measurements of yolk color and yolk index were done by broken out the eggs. Determine the yolk color by comparing the color of the egg yolk with the egg yolk color fan to confirm with the match color. The yolk index was determined by measuring the width of the yolk using a calipers and the height of the yolk using a micrometer tripod. Based on the measurement using ANOVA test, there were significant differences in each treatment group (p<0.05). The effect of turmeric (Curcuma domestica) and papaya leaves (Carica papaya L.) were significantly increased yolk color and yolk index of quail egg (Coturnix- coturnix japonica).
