Abstract

The purpose of this research was to find out the various types of worms as well to determine prevalence and degree of gastrointestinal helminthiasis infections on Madura calves in the district of Labang, Bangkalan. The research was conducted in February-April 2013 with 100 samples of stool examination in the laboratory of Helmintology Universitas Airlangga Department of Parasitology. On examination it was found some kind of worm eggs, which were: Oesophagostomum radiatum, Bunostomum phlebotomum, Mecistocirrus digitatus, Moniezia benedini and Fasciola gigantica. The results of this research showed the prevalence of gastrointestinal worms were 40%. According to the Mc Master method, which found 30-90 egg per gram was the relatively mild degree of infection. On the statistical analysis showed the prevalence of male and female calf helminthiasis was a real difference (p<0,05), while the degree of infection of male and female calves were not significantly different (p>0,05).
