Abstract

This research was conducted to investigate the ability of apple cider vinegar, as a traditional medicine for wound healing incision on mice (Mus musculus) were infected by Staphylococcus aureus. Eighteen of three months old female mice (Mus musculus) BALB/c strain with 25-30 gram average body weight was divided into three group A, B, and C. Group A was given treatment with apple cider vinegar, group B was given treatment with Oxytetracycline as antibiotic and group C as a control was not given treatment. Each treatment was consisted of six mice (Mus musculus). The treatment is given topically three times a day. Observation of wound healing was characterized by the exfoliation of the scab and wound closure . The experimental design used in this study was using completely randomized design (CRD). The data were analyzed by Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and then was followed by Honestly Significant Difference (HSD) test with a significance of 1%. The result showed that the treatment using apple cider vinegar and oxytetracycline affects the healing time of the Staphylococcus aureus wound infection on mice (Mus musculus). And the treatment indicated that apple cider vinegar showed the best result compared to both antibiotic treatment and control.
