Abstract

The objectives of this research were to determine the prevalence, risk factors and the treatment of endometritis in dairy cows at KUD Sumber Makmur, Ngantang Subdistrict, Malang Regency. The procedure was conducted by descriptive survey method with primary data (interviewing farmers and direct observation) and secondary data of period January – December 2014 that were collected from administration in KUD Sumber Makmur. The result showed that the prevalence of endometritis in dairy cows at KUD Sumber Makmur in period January – December 2014 was 34,38 %. Based on the prevalence, shown that the incidence of endometritis was high. Risk factors of endometritis were caused by problem at pre- or post- partum (retensio sekundinae, dystocia), parturition treatments and handling management. The treatment of endometritis was used intrauterine antibiotic (Penstrep® or colibact®) alone or in combination with antiseptic (povidone iodine 2%).
