Abstract

The aim of this study was to explore potency extract of Cikal Tulang (Cissus quadrangularis) for osteoporosis prevention in ovariectomized rat. The measured parameters were the calsium serum level. The experiment animals were twenty female rat, devided into five treatments. Five different treatment mixtures were, P0 was rat without treatment; P1 was ovariectomized rat + 0,5% CMC Na;P2 was ovariectomized rat + calsium carbonat 450 mg/kg weight + 0,5% CMC Na; P3 was ovariectomized rat + extract Cissus adrangularis 500 mg/ kg weight + 0,5% CMC Na; P4 was ovariectomized rat + extract Cissus quadrangularis 750 mg/ kg weight + 0,5% CMC Na. Experimental design was used completely randomized design with five treatments and four replications. The data were analyzed using the Analysis of Variance Statistic Method and if there were differences among the treatments, The Duncan’s Multiple Range Test was used. The result indicated that there were no significant difference (p>0,05) in calsium serum levels. The conclusion showed that the effect from extract of Cikal Tulang (Cissus quadrangularis) in ovariectomized rat was defend calsium serum in normal range. And the extract of Cissus quadrangularis can prevent osteoporosis
