Abstract

This experiment was designed to show the resistance of coagulase-positive Staphylococcus from canine pyoderma by sensitivity test by using non beta lactam antibiotics. This research was an exploratory laboratory study using non probability purposive sampling type. Preparation of pure culture were confirmed by MSA, catalase and coagulase test. Sample was taken from 1 dog which has lesions of canine pyoderma. Swab sample of pus was cultured in MSA and observed the growing colony which did not ferment mannitolt, and the result of catalase and coagulase test were positive. The isolate was suspect as Staphylococcus intermedius. Isolate was tested by non beta-lactam antibiotics using disc diffusion method by Kirby-Bauer. The result of this study showed that isolate of coagulase-positive Staphylococcus resistant to non beta-lactam antibiotics.
