Abstract

The research was aimed to prove that Gonadotropin Releasing Hormone (GnRH) be able to increase semen quality infertil bulls. The research used four infertil bulls such as Limousin 1, Limousin 2, Simental, Friesian Holstein, in Teaching Farm, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Airlangga University, Gresik. Injection was performed twice a week within 2 weeks. Injection done intramuscularly in musculus gluteus. Semen sampling took twice a week until seven times. Examination was performed macroscopically (volume, odor, color, pH, and consistency) and microscopically (motility, viability, concentration). The result of macroscopic examination indicate there was semen quality increase in those four bulls, however in microscopic examination, semen quality increase only seen in Limousin 1, Simental, and Friesian Holstain, but semen’s Limousin 2 still aspermia. This research concluded that injection of Gonadotropin Releasing Hormone (GnRH) in interval time 3 days within 4 times consecutively enough to be able to increase quality semen of Limousin 1, Simental, and Frieisan Holstein, and does not happen in Limousin 2.
