Abstract

Fracture oftenly happens to human or animal. Cissus quadrangularis is a herbal plant that can be used to bone fracture healing. This Cissus quadrangularis research has the objectives to search the effect of Cissus quadrangularis extract in the bone fracture healing by looking histapologi overview. This research is using 18 male Rattus novergicus with the weights approximately 200-250 grams. On the age of 14 weeks all rats are being operated for bone fracture reposition femur dexter. A week later the rats are randomly classified in three groups. They are Group 1, the rats are being therapised with the aquades as a control, then Group 2 : the rats are being given with 150 mg/ kg dose of calcium carbonate and the last is Group 3 : the rats are being therapised with 500 mg/ kg dose of Cissus quadringularis. After 4 weeks of treatment, all rats autopsied for taking the femur dexter bone. The femur bone is to be used in the making of histopatologi preparat. Histopatologi examination is done in scoring. And the result of the observation shows that Group 3’s callus is being dominated by the woven bone and trabekula so the callus looks rigid and stiff. While the rats’ callus in group 2 are dominated by woven bone and trabekula with a little fiber tissue. And rats’ callus in Group 1, fiber tissue and hyaline bone are mostly formed. Hence it can be concluded that Cissus Quadrangularis in 500 mg/ kg dossage can help in the the process of bone fracture Healing
