Abstract
The aim of this research was to detect influenza virus subtype H5 on quails in regard to sudden death cases at Lamongan. Respiratory tract of quails that were suspected infection by influenza virus subtype H5 were used as the samples of this research. The research method was applied by Haemagglutination Inhibition (HAI) test using antisera of infected chicken. The result showed that there was 1 sample (2.86%) of 35 total samples infected by the influenza virus subtype H5. However, it is suggested to have such a further research on isolation and identification of influenza virus subtype H5N1 by using other organs and analyze them through PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) method.
