Abstract

The aim of this research was to observe pH and urine crystals of the cat. The 18 cats was divided into three group with 6 cats of each group. The cats in the group PO was fed with steamed fish as a control, group P1 was fed with dry cat food, and group P2 was fed with canned cat food. All cats were fed twice a day for 21 days. Urine samples were tested for pH and presence of crystals. The pH data was analyzed with ANOVA test. The number of crystal distorted into scoring data, and then analyzed it with kruskal wallis test. The result shows that all cats excreted acid urine (pH < 7). There was no difference in urine pH among the groups. This research was found three kind of crystal that is struvite, uric acid, and amorphous urate. There was no difference in the number of crytal presence. It could be concluded that either dry cat food nor canned cat food have an equally the same effect in cat's urine.
