Abstract

The aim of this study is to detect the presence of Avian Influenza antibody subtype H5 on stray cats (Felis silvestris catus) in several place in Surabaya such as Keputran traditional market, Turi traditional market, Pacar Keling traditional market, Wonokromo traditional market, Pucang traditional market, Keputih housing complex dan Sukomanunggal housing complex. Samples for HI test were isolated from sera of stray cats that have been added RDE (Reseptor Destroying enzyme) (3:1). HI test is positive when inhibition of agglutination is shown, that is signed by the erytrosite's precipitation on the base of microplate's wells.The result showed that from 40 samples, there were 7 samples (Keputeran traditional market, Wonokromo traditional market dan Sukomanunggal housing complex) that have Avian Influenza antibody subtype H5. The percentage of the presence of Avian Influenza antibody subtype H5 is 17,5.
