Abstract
Bacteriocin is one of the metabolite of Lactic Acid Bacteria (LAB) which has a role in reducing the severity of the sub-clinical mastitis disease in dairy cows. This study aims to discover the effect of bacteriocin therapy of dairy cows with subclinical mastitis reviewed by catalase test of milk bacterial by using catalase test. This study used 18 dairy cows quarters which has positive sub-clinical mastitis per one unit of study. Furthermore, a 10 ml bacteriocin therapy with the dosage of 800 AU each quarter is conducted in dairy cows with sub-clinical mastitis. After the therapy, the milk samples were taken once more to be tested by CMT and catalase test. The results proved a highly significant difference of severity scores of subclinical mastitis on CMT test and a decrease in the amount of gas in catalase test, before and after the giving of bacteriocin.
