Abstract

This study aims to detect the effect of jarong (Achyranthes aspera linn) leaves’ alkaloid fraction supply towards the lungs cell damage in mice that are infected Mycobacterium tuberculosis. There are 35 samples of mice that are used with average weight 20 grams that are divided into 5 treatment groups. Those treatments are: PO, which was given CMC 5%; P1, which was given alkaloid 60 mg/kg body weight; P2, which was given 120 mg/kg body weight; P3, which was given 180 mg/kg body weight; and K+, which was given rifampisin 600mg/50 kg body weight during 1 month according to per oral. Then, the study was done the microscopic investigation with expansion into 400x. The study was analyzed by Kruskal Wallis test and was continued by Mann – Whitney test. As the result, alkaloid 60 mg/kg body weight can decrease the lungs cell damage in mice that are infected Mycobacterium tuberculosis. While, P2 and P3 are not much different with PO
