Abstract

This research was aimed to identify prevalence and kind of protozoan on pig digestive tract in Segaran Village, District of Wates, Kediri Regency. Other purpose of the study was to identify effect of age on prevalence rate of protozoan infection on digestive tract. This research used 60 feces samples which collected from 3 groups of pig age and group was consisted of 20 samples. First group was feces of 3 weeks to 4 months old, second group was feces of of four to six months and the last group was feces of above seven months old. Sample assessment used native, sedimentation and floating methods. Assessment result showed that prevalence of digestive tract protozoan infection on pig in Segaran Village, District of Wates, Kediri Regency was 58.3%. The minds of infecting protozoan were Isospora suis and Balantidium coli. Chi square analysis result showed that age factor had not significantly effect (P>0.05) on digestive tract protozoan infection prevalence.
