Abstract
The purpose of this study was to know the protection capabilities of inactive vaccine candidates containing Indonesian AI (H5N1) strain in immunized chickens, challenged with virus isolate A/Ck/Indonesia/BL/2003 (H5N1). Seven groups of chickens were used in this study which were five groups vaccinated with vaccine candidates of AI H5N1 Indonesia strain, one group vaccinated with commercial vaccine, and the last was unvaccinated as a control group. Challanged test was done four weeks after the last booster vaccination. The symptoms showed on day 1 to 8 post challenged were different between groups. In the vaccinated groups, chickens showed only mild symptoms, where as all chickens of unvaccinated group all died. This result showed that all inactive vaccine candidates containing AI (H5N1) Indonesian strain would give protection in chickens.
