Abstract

The aim of this research was to determine the effect of centrifugation with different length of time on motility, viability and plasma membrane integrity. The experimental design was completely randomized design with one control group and two treatments. The control was semen without centrifugation (P0). The treatments were semen with centrifugation 1800 rpm in 5 minutes (P1) and 1800 rpm in 10 minutes (P2). The spermatozoa were assessed for the motility, viability, and plasma membrane integrity. The result of this research showed that the P0 have the highest percentage of motility, viability and plasma membrane integrity of ram spermatozoa, the second was P1, and the lowest was P2. In conclusions, the longer lenght of time of centrifugation decreased the motility, viability and plasma membrane integrity of ram spermatozoa and there was a positive correlation between plasma membrane integrity within motility and viability.
