Abstract

The aim of this study was to determine the effect of black cumin (Nigella sativa) extract on SGOT - SGPT in white rats (Rattus novergicus) with type 1 diabetes mellitus (DM). Twenty five, 2-3 month old male rats were randomly divided into five groups. Rats in negative control group were injected with physioligical saline while the others were injected with alloxan 150 mg/kg bw to induce type 1 diabetes mellitus. Rats in positive control group were not treated while alloxan induced diabetec rats were treated with black cumin (Nigella sativa) extract at the dose 5, 10, and 15 g/kg bw reopectively. Black cumin (Nigella sativa) extract was given orally for 14 days, then rats were anasthesia with cloroform to take blood sample examination. Data analysis using Analysis Of Variant (Anova / Anava) ; (α = 0,05) followed by BNJ test. The results of SGOT - SGPT examination of mice after treatment given extract of black cumin (Nigella sativa) dose of 5 g/kg bw, 10 g/kg bw, 15 g/kg bw, showed no significant effect on level of SGOT – SGPT.
