Abstract

The research was conducted investigate the ability of extract of green cincau leaf (Cyclea barbata L.Miers), as a medicinal plant for healing wounds incision in mice. Research using 25 mice with weigh of ± 25 grams, devided into five treatment groups, a negative control group, positive control (Povidone iodine 10%), the test group of green cincau extract of 40%, 60% and 80%. Observation of wound healing was characterized by wound closure of epithelial tissue. Medication was conducted twice a day that morning and evening. The data were statistically analyzed by Kruskal-Wallis test and then followed by Mann-Whitney test to analyzed the mean value of wound healing, and the data analyzed by ANOVA and followed by Duncan test to showed the time of wound healing. The results showed significant differences (p <0.05) between the control group with the other treatment groups. And the best results are shown by the test treatment of green cincau leaf extract with a concentration of 60%. Therefore, green cincau leaf extract exhibited faster wound healing rates than povidone iodine 10% used as the reference drug.
