Abstract

The purpose of this research was to know the incidence of toxoplasmosis on pork at slaughterhouse of Pegirian Surabaya and Gadang Malang, and also to know the difference of incidence between both slaughterhouses. Ten grams of each diaphragm of 60 porks were inoculated to 120 males of mice. The diaphragms were collected from slaughterhouse of Pegirian Surabaya and Gadang Malang. This research used BALB/C mice of 2 months old. Diaphragms were digested with 2 % of HCl tripsin. The brain of mice were put on object glass and pressed with other object glass then examined microscopically on magnification of 400 to 1000x. The positive toxoplasmosis test based on the cysts were found in the brain. Chi Square was used to know the difference of incidence between slaughterhouse of Pegirian Surabaya and Gadang Malang. Result of the research indicated that 11 of 30 pork diaphragm samples from slaughterhouse of Pegirian Surabaya (46.66%) and 9 of 30 pork diaphragm samples from slaughterhouse of Gadang Malang (43.33%) were positive toxoplasmosis. Chi Square analysis showed there were no significantly difference of incidence on pork between slaughterhouse of Pegirian Surabaya and Gadang Malang.
