Abstract

This research was aimed to know the effect of water lily (Nelumbo nucifera) extract on the histopathology of stomach and small intestine of white rat (Rattus norvegicus). 30 male white rats, three months of age with 100 gram of weights and it divided in five treatments and six repetitions. The treatment consists of group P0, P1, P2, P3 and P4. Group P0 was given aquadest 5 ml/rat/day, each P1, P2 and P3 was given seed extract of water lily which respectively has 3, 6 and 12 mg/200 g weight/day and for group P4 was given aspirin 9 mg/200 g weight/day. All aquadest, aspirin and seed extract of water lily are constantly given for 21 days. The white rats were euthanasia used ether then the stomach and small intestine removed to perform histopathological examination. The data analyzed with Kruskal Wallis and continued with Z test. The result showed that P4 give the most significant influence like erotion, ulceration andn haemorrhage than P0, P1, P2.
