Abstract

This study had been done isolation and identification of the protein prolactin of the moulting duck’s serum. The result of this study could used as a scientific base to produce the antiprolactin polyclonal antibody that could accelerate the moulting process. The serum gotten by blood intake at the axillaris vein was added SAS 50%, homogenated, sentrifugated, and dialised. Prolactin characterization started by SDS PAGE to determine the molecule weight. Specificity test by Western Bloting and Electroelution to get the pure prolactin isolated. The result of this study showed that prolactin protein could be isolated from the moulting duck’s serum by SAS 50% method. The identification of the prolactin protein by SDS PAGE showed the prolactin at 27 kDa molecule weight. The specificity test by Western Bloting and Electroelution can be used to obtain that the isolate was pure prolactin isolate with 27 kDa molecule weight.
