Abstract

The number of occupational accident cases are increasing every year. According to various studies, 80% incidence of occupational accidents causes by human factors. The aim of this study is to determine the correlation of workers factors with the occurence of occupational accident in workers Commercial Ship Division PT. PAL Indonesia. This research used cross sectional approach. The type of research was analytic. Data has collected in Commercial Ship Division PT. PAL Indonesia by the number of respondents as many as 132 workers. Subjects drawn from the population by simple random sampling. The collected data was analyzed followed by the frequency and Chi Square test. Independent variabels are age, marital status, education type, employee period, use of PPE and the experience of safety counseling/training. The result showed that the majority of respondents aged between 35-45 yeras old, most of the respondents has married, the most education was Senior High School, the majority of respondents has a safety counseling/traing. The result of age (p=0.025), (p=0.033) for marital status, (p=0.043) for the education type, (p=0.034) for the employee period, (p=0.034) for the used of PPE, (p=0.785) for the experience of safety counseling/training. The conclusion is that there is a correlation between age, marital status, education type, employee period and use of PPE with the occurence of occupational accidents. The recomandation are increase the monitoring of PPE use, select the workers with sertificate, and improving the safety counseling/training.
