Abstract

Productivity is one of the company standards in achieving its goal. The work environment factor and another factor such as boredom and exhaustion which is caused by monotonous work can reduce the productivity. Music is one of the efforts in improving the work atmosphere because music can create a better work atmosphere. Furthermore, music can improve the work spirit and productivity. The goal of this research is to analyze the effect of music to the productivity of the packaging workers from CV. Rohmat Jaya, Sidoarjo. This research used pre-experimental design type and for research design used one group pre and post-test design. Total amount of sample is the total sample population, 14 respondents. The company had increased the productivity of 8.71% after the workers were listening to the dangdut music (favorite music) and then it decreased again on the second week in the amount of 8.31 % because the music was turned off all day. After the music was turned on again during the next 3 days, there was an increasing in productivity of 6.41%. Based on the research showed that music can improve productivity in packaging workers, so CV Rohmat Jaya is expected to hold a music program for the packaging workers during the work day. There was probability that research result can be applied for improve the productivity at other company which have same type.
